Eduard Photo Etch for Tamiya's Willys Jeep

Last year at BayConn, I had that itch to pick up something. Of course I gave in, I picked up the Tamiya Willys Jeep and the Eduard Photo Etch set that is for that model. I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy working with Etch! First I don't have much experience, my first Etch was the Eduard set for the DML T34/85. But to me, bending those pieces in every which way to replace sanded off lumps of plastic on a kit just makes me happy (cept of course, if the pieces are really small that can get frustrating)... You never know maybe someday this will move me on towards attempting 'scratch building'.

The Eduard set contains two frets of etch and a set of masks for painting the tires and windshield.willysetch1.jpg (507018 bytes) willysetch8.jpg (526623 bytes)

Relief is one sided (I don't know if Aber does both sides - I thought I'd heard that before). Instructions are excellent showing Kit pieces, how to prepare them (cutting and filing).

A lot of attention goes towards sprucing up the 30. cal MG. So even if you don't mount the gun on the Jeep, you'll have a nice gun for another subject.

Other points of interest are the engine... set includes a new fan... a top for a distributor cap (you use sprue for most of it). and wires... The radiator has nice grilles

Also included is a nice radio for the back... I kind of wish I didn't complete it yet, as I think it would be easier to paint if first and then mount it in the bracket (we'll see).

I think I'll be satisfied with the end results... I highly recommend this set to anyone building the Tamiya Jeep.
